No More Casts! - Week #8

On June 3rd, Gabby had her final set of casts removed. You can see that her feet have been adjusted almost a full 180 degrees from her starting point of pointing totally inward to now pointing outward. The doctors said she looks "excellent" and things have progressed exactly as they wanted. She was then fitted for her shoes which she will wear 23 hours per day for the next 3 months and then 16 hours per day until she is 4 years old. We call her the "little snowboarder". She was quite unhappy with the shoes on her first day because now she has to move both feet at the same time and the shoes and bar are much heavier than her casts. Now that a few days have passed, she is adjusting very well and moves her legs around surprisingly easy. The pictures show her casts being removed and her bare legs (yeah!) and then her shoe fitting. I've also included a couple pictures of her hanging out with Gavin and taking one of her daily shoe breaks.
I go back to work tomorrow and Lance will now be handling this solo (with a little help from our new nanny :) ). My maternity leave has been quite the journey but we've enjoyed it very much. Thank you all for your support over the last couple of months. We'll continue to keep this blog updated.
