On May 13th, Gabby had the surgery to release her achilles tendons. This was the worst part of all of her procedures but as usual, she was a champ. The surgery was very sucessful and there have been no infections or problems following the surgery. Our doctors have been incredible - she is in great hands. The first picuture shows her feet before the surgery. You can see in the photo that her feet were in a "normal" position as they were now facing forward but they were pointed downward. The surgery to release her achilles would allow her feet to come up into a position that would essentially allow her to stand on her feet. The other picture shows the scalpel they used which is the same as the one used in cataract surgery so it was very tiny. The last picture shows us coming in immediately following the surgery to soothe her while they were setting her legs in her last set of casts. These casts will come off on June 3rd and she will be fitted for her shoes. It's all up hill from here!
