On April 15th, we began the process of correcting Gabby's feet. She had her first set of casts put on and actually tolerated them fairly well. We are very fortunate to have an excellent doctor who specializes in this method of club feet correction. We have learned there are still doctors out there who will perform surgery to correct the problem which is obviously much more invasive and painful. Above are a couple pictures of her feet before we began the casting and correction. It was evident right at birth (as you can see in the photo) but the doctors and nurses all thought it was just "positional". The next day, we learned via our pediatrician and ultimately an Othopedic specialist that she in fact had club feet. 1 in 1,000 babies are born with it and no one really seems to know why. We are fortunate also that her case is not very severe. On a scale of 1-10, we've been told it's about a 5.
